Internet Marketing – Free Marketing And Paid Advertising

To have success with marketing your website on the internet, you need to learn how to do “internet marketing” down to its core. It’s not an easy task. Every year people get the desire to start a business on the internet, and at first, their intentions are clear. They typically just want to earn enough money to help pay bills, or simply… to replace their job.

But there’s a problem here. global giveaway Most people see how easy it is to access information on the internet, and how easy it is to get an internet business up and running. But the 1 critical thing that they lack (and clearly don’t understand) is how to promote their business on the internet.

When it comes to promoting your business online, that’s where the tables turn. Suddenly things get tough, and people like to abandon ship. If you’re that weak and fragile in your belief of your internet business… you will probably NEVER have success online, or it will take you 5-10 years for you to start making some money.

5-10 years is a long time to learn some simple lessons about internet marketing. I’m assuming that you will probably start off with paid advertising. That’s fine. I love paid advertising, and I use it everyday in my business. But I still do a small bit of free marketing so that it can help diminish the costs of my paid advertising.

It’s a win-win situation in my opinion. Now you should know that you will more than likely get more sales with paid advertising on a daily basis, but the more you do free marketing, the more your advertising costs will slowly dwindle. Eventually years down the road, your free marketing income will surpass the amount of money that you’re investing into advertising. Meaning that you will be in a 100% profit business.

But free marketing takes work. There are all kinds of strategies out there. There is article marketing, social marketing, search engine marketing, blogging, rss marketing, email marketing, email marketing, and even affiliate marketing. These are just some of the major free marketing strategies, but many more exist – like guest blogging, or blog commenting.

Don’t give up though if for the first few months you’re not drowning in an endless sea of sales. The only thing that can give you fast sales like this is paid advertising. But the leads and customers that you do get from free marketing are HIGHLY profitable. They are high quality, and they come to you, already viewing you as the obvious expert. And they will listen to you.

Take your internet business and be serious with it. Don’t listen to the nay-sayers who will try and sway your dream of financial independence. A lot of people don’t believe that you can make a good income on the internet. They know there’s a lot of work involved (especially if you aren’t good with computers), but for the most people, when most people hear the term “internet business”… they think of some bad money scheme.

Truth is, if you don’t want to sell “how to make money” or “internet marketing” products, you don’t have to! You can sell things that you’re interested in. You can sell basketball products, gardening, do eBay, create software, and etc. Don’t limit yourself to just 1 or 2 niches. Expand your portfolio, and you will be good to go. Good luck!

Other Internet Marketing Outlets

A forum (also known as discussion group, message board or bulletin board) is a component of a website where users can ask questions, offer advice, or share experiences with others about a certain topic or topics. apiary Nearly every hobby on earth has a number of popular forums wherein members offer their thoughts and feelings on all aspects of their favorite pastime. Contributing a comment (with a link to your website) in discussion groups related to your products or services can create a small surge or spike in traffic, but usually has little long-lasting effect. To maximize effectiveness, target forums on high-traffic sites that have 1,000+ users, and reply to topics with larger numbers of views (relative to other posted topics).

You can easily build your own bulletin board/forum component on your site with free or low-cost software. User forums have the potential to greatly increase the “stickiness” of a site, given a critical mass of traffic required to generate new discussions and keep participants interested in returning. You can start by “seeding” topics on your own, but there won’t be any results until traffic is directed to the forums. The conundrum for small businesses may be the time required to moderate a forum once it becomes successful. One solution is to seek out a volunteer moderator who exhibits a keen interest in your field. A sample of a baseball trading card forum is shown in the screen shot below.

Article Placement / E-Zines

Another avenue for generating incoming links and traffic to your site is the free article market. Article submission (or e-zine) websites allow you to publish articles on a variety of topics. Examples include EzineArticles and ArticleCity.com.

Depending on terms of use, these articles may be used as content on other websites, or collected on the site where submitted. The main objective of most article contributors is to increase their search engine rankings with the placement of backlinks on other reputable sites. Providing reliable and accurate reference information is secondary, and the traffic potential from article readers is questionable.

Obtaining links from article submission sites isn’t likely to improve your site’s search engine rankings much. However, existing content from a print newsletter or other written material can be re-purposed with a relatively small time investment. Be aware that creating articles from your website’s content verbatim may cause search engines to penalize your site, as the search engines take a dim view of text that is republished multiple times (“duplicate content” in search engine optimization terms). Submitting articles to sites with the most traffic will give your site the best chance to be discovered by new readers.

Caveat: Once an article is submitted, you have little or no control over who uses your content and for what purpose, depending on the copyright policies of the site on which the article is posted.

Other Internet Marketing Outlets

Wikipedia

Wikipedia is, essentially, an online encyclopedia. The unique aspect of Wikipedia is that users generate the content, though content must be approved by volunteer editors. Traffic will grow if and when others link to the entry. If you add content, your time commitment will be relatively minor, and the benefits might include improved search engine ranking and a slight increase in traffic to your site. As with other forms of Internet communication, a Wikipedia entry that is essentially a commercial for a product, service, or company will not be viewed positively and is unlikely to be approved by editors.

Directories

Online directories allow Internet users to browse through categories of topics to find websites related to a certain subject. There are directories for businesses, blogs, websites in general, and more. Many directories are free, and some only list you if you pay. The mother of free directories is the Open Directory Project, and by all accounts the best paid directory for business is the Yahoo! Directory ($299 annually). Be aware that you might wait a long time for some of the free directories to list your site, as they may rely on volunteer screeners. Directories not only allow consumers to find you in their listings, they also help get your site indexed in the major search engines. If you submit your site to a directory, make sure to read the submission guidelines and follow them exactly.

Starting An Internet Marketing Business Online

Are you looking to start an internet marketing business online? If so, you need to know exactly what you’re getting yourself into. Don’t think you can just enter into this industry and expect to start making millions of dollars within the next 6 months. amarylis I get requests from people all the time telling me that they want to be making $5,000 per month within 3 months. And these are people who have never sold a thing online!

One thing that you need to know is that when starting an internet marketing business online, you “kind of” have the world at your feet. There’s plenty of places to advertise, there’s plenty of ways to get free traffic to your site, there’s plenty of business owners looking to learn how to do effective marketing online, and etc. So you can be kind of spoiled once you get your hands on some training materials.

But understand that you are operating in a HIGH competition arena. A smart thing that you could do is to offer internet marketing services to local small businesses in your area. Most offline small business owners don’t have a clue about how to market their business online. But in the online world, people have training thrown at them all the time.

So I guess the best question to ask yourself is: “How am I different?” Right?? You don’t want to be a “me-too” person when marketing your products and services online. This applies if you choose to be a coach, consultant, or sell products such as books, CD’s, DVD’s, or even magazines. So how are you different? How will you separate yourself from the pack and differentiate yourself from everyone else online who are making the same claims as you?

It’s something you need to think about when launching your own internet marketing business online. Where most people get tripped up at is when, they read someone’s free eBook about internet marketing, and then go and buy a large resell rights package that is ALL ABOUT internet marketing.

Each product in the package contains something about internet marketing. More often than not, the resell rights bundle may contain products about:

Email marketing
Forum marketing
YouTube marketing
General internet marketing
Consumer buying behavior
Copywriting
Etc (the list goes on and on)
And most of these people spend YEARS trying to figure out a way to sell these products – if not sell them as a bundle. OR if not resell the same offer that they bought to receive these items. After years of failure, they usually leave feeling depressed, broke, and convinced that making money online is impossible… if not a scam. And this is just not true.

All of these kinds of products are supposed to teach people about niche marketing. Especially a general product about internet marketing. The real pros who sell internet marketing products successfully sell them primarily for a good reason: THEY SELL THEM FOR VERY HIGH PRICES.

They sell one course about internet marketing at $200. Then they backend sell you for another similar course at $500. Then they sell you another similar course with huge bonuses for $1000. Then they sell their 3-day seminar and invite you to attend… for the price of $2000. THEN they convince you to sign up for their monthly newsletter or membership website, and charge you $50/month to join.

How rich do you think you would be if you were to successfully get people to buy your products at these price ranges?

Meanwhile, you’re being convinced that selling $19 eBooks will save you from your day job. This is just not the case. To make $100,000 by selling $19 eBooks, you would have to sell 5000 eBooks per year. That comes out to 416 eBooks per month. Which means you would have to sell 104 eBooks per week. Which thus means you would have to sell 14 eBooks per day.

How are you going to sell 13 eBooks per day and you’re struggling to make even a dime of profit selling a $5 eBook on eBay? You have to learn a lot about internet marketing if you want to make a lot of money in this business. ESPECIALLY if you’re selling information about “internet marketing”. If you’re not a guru and have been selling other niche products successfully online, don’t enter into this broad arena.

The gurus who are selling “internet marketing” products successfully have a plan that have worked well for them over the years. EVEN IF they lose money on the first sale of getting that first customer, they know how to recoup their lost, and then still profit on the next sale that they make from that customer.

They know their numbers. They know their sales conversion rate, their cost per lead, cost per sale, and their average long term value of a customer. Let me ask you a question:

If you knew that for every 1 customer you acquired, that you were going to make an average of $5000 over the lifetime of that customer spending money with you… would you care if you lost $5 just to acquire them in the first place? Of course you wouldn’t care.

But I’m sure you would care if you were spending $5 to acquire them, and then not selling to them again to recoup your profits. That would mean that for every customer you get, you would be losing $5 per sale… forever. You have to market to these customers over and over again to recoup a frontend loss. This is called “backend marketing”.

If you want to get started online in the internet marketing business, you have to bring your A-game and have a mathematical plan of how you’re going to make money. There’s a lot to learn, but once you gain an understanding of how marketing online works (and how marketing in general works)… you’ll be well on your way to success in your business.

If you’re going to buy a resell rights bundle package, at least READ the information in the products you acquired so that you can know how to sell them successfully. Don’t be a hopeless cause.

The Internet Marketing Autopsy

Introduction

The “Death Of Internet Marketing” report was created and distributed by Mike Filsaime a couple of years back. This article was actually written a couple of days after it was released, but has been residing on my site until I pulled it off. Anyway, DOIM was one of those reports that actually got many people talking. Yet, because of the way it was marketed, agevandervelde I think it got a few people thinking about it, but probably not enough. Even this year, people aren’t doing what they need for their business, and I honestly don’t care if it is online or offline.

Well, Mike says “Internet Marketing Died”. So here’s Stuart Tan’s autopsy:

So… let’s just say that I’m going to do a post-mortem after this report is out into the market. Yep – we’re all into forensics now, with so many interesting metaphors such as the “death of internet marketing”.

Most people would have by now read Mike Filsaime’s “Death of Internet Marketing”, Rich Schefren’s “Internet Business Manifesto” etc, etc. In my opinion, the biggest issues have not been dealt with. Mike undoubtedly gives a fantastic exposition of what was and what is to be.

Why am I writing this? Because after looking at all the emails coming in about Mike’s report, I came to the conclusion that:

most internet marketers didn’t ‘get’ it. They said “it’s a good report”. That’s not what it’s about.
The reviews about Mike’s report were far too simplistic about implications about what he really had to say
Firstly, these reports really weren’t for the newbie in internet marketing. They are for experienced marketers who know what is happening in the industry. Second, it’s a foregone conclusion that you need to be more of an entrepreneur… not just a marketer.
For those of you who are unable to keep up with Mike’s brilliance, or think that this is the be-all and end-all of marketing strategy, most people have missed the basis of Mike’s report.
Component #1 – Don’t be lazy!

If you want to be lazy, you’ll go to the sharks. Most of the hardest working internet marketers are also the wealthiest. Again, I’m not suggesting that you are going to become wealthy by only working really hard. The truth of the matter is that working hard to achieve auto-pilot in your business does require a bit more strategizing and action.

Component #2 – Assess trends!

Staying outside of the box? Then you’ll definitely be very lost when it comes to assessing whether or not you should take on a business model like affiliate marketing, or ecommerce… because you have insufficient information to be able to decide. Assess trends. Watch the web. Look at all the stuff that is progressing right before your very eyes. Get on technology forums and learn, learn, learn.

Component #3 – Credibility As Weaponry!

Through all this hype and a very severe lack of information, it’s difficult to decide whether or not to buy one product or the other. The main deciding factor will come from someone whom you trust completely and will be willing to buy simply because you deem this person to be credible. So, build your credibility! It will take more than just one report to do this! Build your credibility! Set yourself up with the right people, credentials, etc. Or better still, get on one of my teleseminars.

Component #4 – Forward Strategy!

It’s not easy to move forward in internet marketing, but that’s often because one doesn’t have a clear direction in the first place. Vision, as Mike says, is important. I believe it’s more than just ‘vision’. It’s more like the ability to focus on what needs to be done, and just taking action and doing it, having already decided that it is something you will accomplish at all cost.

Too many people balk at doing the things that matter. They end up procrastinating! Okay, I’m not an angel myself 100% of the time. But think of where you are. For instance, you know for a fact that you need to create content for your site. Say you’re not a really good content creator. What next? Wait and hope that money will fall from the sky? I don’t think so! You still need to find a way to get it done. Or, make a way! You may have to think of ways to get your way even though you can’t do it yourself.

Component #5 – Polarity thinking… and the Stuart Slap!

When everyone is doing something, you have to do the complete opposite.

Look at the infamous Google Slap. If you’re not familiar, Google “slapped” people a number of times already. When people don’t provide good value, they get slapped. This is to force people to avoid their own impending doom. It’s like a parent slapping their children to not touch the burning flame. Still, people go ahead, get burnt, them blame the person they last encountered. Tsk. Tsk.

5. Track your promotions. Collect your money and deposit it into your bank account.

Now, this doesn’t sound very difficult does it? Well, it really is this simple. All the expensive Internet Marketing e-books, courses and seminars mostly provide information concerning one or more topics surrounding the above components in some form or another.

10 Key Ingredients Successful People Have In Common:

1. Associate with those who believe in you and your ideas.

2. Find the right mentor(s).

3. Associate with those who know more than you in your field of interest.

4. Stay consistent and persistent until your goals are achieved.

5. Refrain from over-indulging in mind altering chemicals.

6. Find a daily exercise you enjoy doing.

7. Take care of your health by eating right and take daily nutrients.

8. Laugh every day. Count at least 5 daily blessings at the end of each day.

9. Read and learn something new about your business every day.

10. Read or listen to something inspirational or motivational every day.

What type of power-group do beginners or frustrated struggling Internet Marketers use?
Bad News! Most struggling Internet Marketers DO NOT have a power group. Some marketers join little marketing clubs; they take a chance and purchase e-books and they visit marketing forums, etc. Bottom line is this: Most marketers stumble around and do the best they can.

The BIG Myth! “Internet Marketing is Easy and You can Master it ALL in ONE day!”
First of all that’s a BIG lie! Good news – it’s not as tough as you might think.

I have no way of knowing your level of Internet Marketing experience. So, I try not to use advanced marketing terms. I try to keep it simple. Internet Marketing is a completely different “flavor” than real world marketing.

When “Joe” establishes his hardware store in the strip mall near your house, then he usually utilizes a different set of marketing and advertising principles. An online business succeeds by utilizing Internet Marketing tactics and strategies. With that said; Some online businesses can still use real world marketing in order to attract prospects and some real world businesses are also utilizing the internet to attract local prospects.

“Joe” can also utilize Internet Marketing to promote his neighborhood hardware store if he knew a few of the secrets.

There are many aspects of Internet Marketing. There are a variety of methods that can be utilized to help direct prospects to a website. You will not become proficient at using any of them overnight. Don’t let anyone fool you.

Let’s say it takes 10 “focused” hours to get proficient at any one method. If there are 12 methods, then it may require 120 focused hours of practice. Most Internet Marketing is usually done every day or at least a few times per week. Either you must perform most of the traffic methods yourself or hire it done once you can afford it. It sounds harder than what it is… don’t worry about it. It will all become crystal clear very soon.

Good News: In my opinion, you may not get rich over- night, but the INTERNET is still the best way to earn profits and the best way to become financially independent. If you’re going to spend time learning Internet Marketing, then it’s imperative you learn the correct updated methods as to not waste your time and money.

The faster you learn the strategies the faster you earn a decent income. Thousands of people are floundering for many reasons with their home-based Internet businesses – one big reason is they simply don’t know what to do or how to do it and many times they use bad advice.
